Willemstad
Willemstad is the capital of Curaçao and the Netherlands Antilles. The city has about 140,000 inhabitants, making it the largest city of the Lesser Antilles. Because the Hollandaise Willemstad architecture is sometimes called the "Amsterdam of the Western Hemisphere" called.
The city lies on the southeast side of Curacao, with a natural harbor, called Schottegat, through the St. Anna Bay with the Caribbean Sea is connected. On either side of the St. Anna Bay are the districts and Otrobanda Punda, they are linked since 1886 by the Queen Emma Bridge (pontoon bridge in the popularly called). Today is the most traffic on the Queen Juliana Bridge.
In the center of Willemstad are many shops including the Heerenstraat and Madurostraat. Shops are generally open from Monday to Saturday from 09.00 to 12.00 and from 14.00 to 18.00 hours.
